Available Adults/ Older Puppies
Every now and then we will have a few older puppies or adults become available. If interested in one of our available adults please fill out our questionnaire (found on our important documents page).
Shimmer- 4 Year old Chocolate Female Labrador Retriever. Shimmer is a beautiful girl! We absolutely adore her! She is 3/4 bench/ show bred, and 1/4 field bred. She has had one litter here with us and was a fantastic mother! The reason we choose to retire her early is because our program is making hard adjustments and unfortunately she just didn't meet our high standards (she is too short compared to the breed standards). Like we said, she is a very sweet girl, we absolutely adore her! She has the most sweetest temperament, and she's very low key. She is a very "easy" keeper and gets along with everyone! She is great with kids and our cat (though admittedly our cat doesn't run from our dogs so there is no chase element involved). She is fully health tested (OFA- hips, elbows, eyes, cardiac, as well as DNA tested). If Shimmer has any quirks about her it is 2 things- 1). She is a barker, but her bark is very very quiet and is more like a whisper "woof" type bark. 2.) She very much likes her routine- she is completely crate trained, but if you veer off her routine she will likely mess in her crate. Even though she is in the house here, she will likely need to be trained and worked with once placed as none of our dogs have full access to our home (our daughter is ironically terrified of dogs and out of respect for her we have had to make accommodations). Instead we have a designated "dog room" in our home and spend the most time with them outside in our dog yard.
Shimmer has been spayed, she will also have a trough vet exam done before placement. She will also leave completely up to date on all vaccinations. She is also Microchipped.
Shimmers retirement fee- $1,500
Mel- 2 Year old dark red Golden Retriever. Pet/ Field bred in type. Mel is quite the quirky little dog, she was our first Golden Retriever. We had hoped to add her into our breeding program someday, but unfortunately she developed an off bite (she has a very minimal underbite). Though this causes absolutely no issues for her and is purely cosmetic in her case, it has removed her from being a candidate for our program as bites are sometimes genetic and we absolutely do not want to chance passing on bad bites. I will also admit that through the 2 (almost 3) years of experience owning our first Golden that we have decided that we are not actually "Golden people" after all. She has shown us that the breed though similar to Labradors in many ways, they are definitely different! Mel is a very quirky dog, she is super "soft" and "timid" and gets her feelings hurt very easily. Thus makes training sessions with her extremely hard as she shuts down easily. Mel gets along with everyone in our pack, but we would consider her as more of a dominate/ alpha type dog in a pack setting. She has gotten better at sharing toys, but I still don't let them have them unsupervised. Same with food, we don't allow any of our dogs to have high value treats unsupervised and we only feed them in their crates to prevent any sort of resource guarding. Mel knows how to sit, is 100% crate trained and absolutely will not go in her crate unless it's an emergency situation. She takes treats nicely by hand, and will "give hugs" if you let her. She has been great with our kids, she will chase a cat if it runs, and she has a strong bird drive. She will kill chickens, and other birds if given the chance. We have been working on this, but I still wouldn't 100% trust her unsupervised. I think with a little more work she would make someone a great hunting partner! Her biggest downfall is that she hates being on a leash- this is what will need the most amount of work. A fenced in property/ yard is an absolute must for her at this moment.
